Privacy Policy

LiuApp is designed as a private digital space for parents and children.

We value privacy and data protection. LiuApp does not use personal data for advertising, analytics, or tracking purposes.

1. Account & Authentication

Users sign in using either their Google account or Apple ID (Sign in with Apple).

The email address associated with the chosen account is used solely as an account identifier — it enables authentication, links the account to its data on our servers, and lets other LiuApp users send audio recordings to that address.

When signing in with Apple, users may choose Apple's "Hide My Email" option. In that case Apple provides a private relay address (for example, example@privaterelay.appleid.com) instead of the user's real email. LiuApp treats this relay address the same way as any other email — it is used only as an identifier and remains valid as long as the user keeps the relay active in their Apple ID settings.

LiuApp does not use email addresses for advertising, marketing, profiling, or third-party sharing.

2. In-App Purchases & Subscriptions

LiuApp offers an optional premium subscription that unlocks additional features.

All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. LiuApp does not see or store payment card details, billing addresses, or any other financial information; this data is handled entirely by Apple under Apple's privacy policy.

To validate active subscriptions and synchronize entitlements across the user's devices, LiuApp uses RevenueCat, a subscription management service. RevenueCat receives:

• a stable anonymous user identifier (the LiuApp account email, used as the RevenueCat App User ID);
• Apple's transaction receipt for the purchase;
• limited device information (iOS version, device model) required for receipt validation.

RevenueCat does not receive audio content, names, or any other personal information beyond what is listed above. RevenueCat's handling of this data is governed by their own privacy policy (revenuecat.com/privacy).

The user's premium tier is stored on the LiuApp server and used only to gate access to premium features inside the app.

3. Server Communication & Audio Transmission

When users share audio recordings with another LiuApp user via email-based sharing, files are securely transmitted through LiuApp servers to deliver the recording to the intended recipient.

Audio files are processed temporarily for transmission purposes only and are not permanently stored on LiuApp servers.

LiuApp does not access, analyze, or use audio content beyond enabling secure delivery.

4. Information We Do Not Collect

LiuApp does not collect personal data for advertising, profiling, or tracking purposes.

We do not sell user data to third parties.

5. Audio Recordings & iCloud Sync

Audio recordings created in the app are stored:

• locally on the user's device, and/or
• in the user's private iCloud container (CloudKit private database) if iCloud sync is enabled.

iCloud storage is provided by Apple and remains under the user's iCloud account. LiuApp's developer does not have access to recordings stored on user devices or in the user's private iCloud storage.

6. Microphone Access

LiuApp requests access to the microphone solely for recording personal audio content within the app.

7. Bluetooth Usage

• LiuApp uses Bluetooth to enable secure pairing and communication between devices within a Family Group.
• Bluetooth is used only to connect trusted family devices for remote audio control.
• No data is transmitted to external servers via Bluetooth.

8. Background Activity

• LiuApp may use Background App Refresh to maintain device pairing and allow remote audio control within a Family Group.
• Background activity is limited to maintaining secure communication between trusted devices.

9. Notifications

LiuApp uses two types of notifications:

• Local notifications — generated on the device to inform users about family activity, sleep timer events, and newly received audio recordings.
• Remote push notifications — delivered via Apple Push Notification service (APNs) to alert users of incoming shares, family invites, child device pairing events, and updates to the trusted email list. Push payloads contain only metadata (event type, sender email, share identifier) — never audio content.

Notifications are never used for marketing purposes.

10. Family Group, Invites & Child Device Pairing

A Family Group is a private collection of devices controlled by a designated Parent (Owner). The Parent controls:

• which devices belong to the family;
• which adult email addresses are invited as additional family members;
• remote audio playback permissions for child devices.

Family member invitations are sent by email and include a short-lived invite code. Invited users join the Family Group by signing in to LiuApp and accepting the invitation; the invite code expires after a limited time or after the first successful use.

A child device is paired to a Family Group through a one-time pairing code generated by the Parent. After pairing, the child device authenticates to our server using a device-specific token (not the parent's account credentials). Child devices receive only the audio recordings and family configuration explicitly shared with them by the Parent.

Only approved family members can control playback on a child's device.

11. Content Sharing & Digital Signature

Audio recordings created within LiuApp may be securely shared with other LiuApp users through two channels:

• Email-based sharing — the recording is uploaded to LiuApp servers, delivered to the recipient's account, and removed from the server after delivery (see Section 3).
• iCloud sharing (CKShare) — adults on the same family configuration can share recordings through Apple's CloudKit Sharing. The shared CloudKit zone is hosted in the sender's private iCloud container; LiuApp does not have access to the contents.

Each recording created in the app is cryptographically signed to ensure authenticity and integrity. This digital signature helps prevent modification and confirms the original creator of the recording.

Only recordings created by the user can be shared. Audio files that were:

• imported from external sources, or
• received from another user

cannot be re-shared through LiuApp.

12. Children's Privacy

• LiuApp does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
• Child devices do not sign in with an email-based account; they authenticate via a device token issued during pairing.
• All content remains within the private family environment.

13. Data Sharing

LiuApp does not use third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or behavioural tracking tools. The only third-party service that processes account-linked data is RevenueCat (subscription validation, Section 2).
